Unquestionably the oldest ball game on earth, some 2500 years ago polo was first played in ancient Persia. The centuries evolved, and the stick and ball rolled into play through Imperial China and onto the steppes of Mongolia and the Khans. In these times, polo was essentially warfare training with dozens of “players” to a side.

In the 1800’s, polo expanded greatly in India, as English officers took up the game, founded clubs, and formulated a set of rules. The Calcutta Polo Club is the oldest club in operation today, established in 1862. From there the passion overtook England, spreading through Europe, Australia, and to the USA. In 1875, Argentina discovered its polo destiny, and developed unabated to bring them to current undisputed polo preeminence.
Today, THAI POLO CLUB relishes the honor of continuing the excitement, and the proud traditions of this amazing obsession in Thailand.
