Polo ponies are “ninety percent of the game”, as polo-players say. Although a top handicap player always possesses talent, a feeling for the ball and good physical fitness; no goal, no victory is possible, if the pony is not fast, agile or fit enough. Top-class ponies give their best to bring the rider to the ball, stop, turn, and yet again quickly accelerate. They cover opponents and the goal, love to compete, and fight gloriously. No wonder that the best ponies are usually reserved for the final chukka.

Top-class ponies are however rare because their key traits are not only the result of expert training but are to a large extent innate. Most polo ponies are therefore thoroughbreds, with the best coming from Argentina. At THAI POLO CLUB we have regularly stabled and play at some of the finest Argentinean and Australian polo ponies in Asia. Currently the club keeps 60 polo ponies for club chukkas. All of them are beautifully groomed and tended-to to enhance their speed and safety and of course to led the pony’s appearance add to the aesthetic beauty of the game.

THAI POLO CLUB currently also stables 12 ponies from guests all year around and 17 ponies from Malaysian guests. Besides, the club keeps 9 small Thai ponies for kids.
